What is a “Problemista?”
What? You don’t know what a “Problemista” is?! What is a “Problemista”? I can’t believe you want me to tell you what a “Problemista” is! And that is exactly what a “Problemista” is, haha! Someone who will argue until they get their way. Well, some people use that power well and we personally do think it is sometimes necessary. But that is just our point of view, my friends. You will have to draw your own conclusions after you see the movie.
Yes! “Problemista” is a movie! It is the new feature from A23! The same studio that brought you the big hit “Everything Everywhere All at Once|.” Now, it gives light to a Latino story that every immigrant and/ or dreamer will feel identify with. The film starring and directed by comedian Julio Torres had a special screening at Los Angeles Latino Film Festival this summer. And we can tell you that it did not disappoint at all!
With an amazing cast including Greta Lee, Tilda Swinton, James Scully, Catalina Saavedra and the amazing writing, directing and acting abilities of Julio Torres. He is one of the master mind writers of Saturday Night Live! This movie promises to make you laugh, cry and also to learn something about or to identify with other people’s struggles. Also, so, you know it is also produced by Emma Stone, how cool is that!
This fabulous hilarious and entertaining story narrates the struggle of Alejandro. A Salvadorian immigrant with big dreams but he is not shark at all. Luckily, he finds one, whether he likes it or not, that teaches him a lesson or two about how to get what you want in life. Because sometimes is not enough to just ask! Haha!
