Complete Guide to Using Makeup Brushes-Do you ever wonder how some girls get the perrrr-fect makeup look?
if you always try and try but don’t get the same result, so you ask one of those girls about their secret and their ultimate response is : It’s all about the brushes. ughhh right?
I don’t know about you, but I get so frustrated trying to find the perfect makeup brushes to get that flawless look and it just doesn’t happen. is it the way you move the brush while applying it? or is it really the quality of the brush? are we destined to spend hundreds of dollars on makeup brushes to get the look we want?
the answer is NO. After so many failed tries, I realized that the reason why I am not getting the look I want, is because I don’t know how to use each brush. Each brush has a purpose and frankly I never took MAKEUP BRUSH 101 class.
So my dears, I am here to make your life easier, and as I have learned each brush’s purpose, so can you. ready? grab your brushes and start learning how to use them. Or if you don’t have them yet, take note and buy them according to what they do and what you want to achieve.
#1 The so-called fan brush. this brush tends to be on of the me most practical brushes ( so if don’t have one, go get one ASAP). The fan will help you distribute products such as masks/cream etc more evenly. But the main purpose of this brush is to give you a weightless finish, If you have a heavy hand and you feel like you always end up applying too much bronzer or blush, real y on this brush. The way this brush is made helps the product to create a softer look, while its flat shape can help you get that contour on just right.
#2. Brow Brush. Because they say that brows can either make you or break you right? for some reason brows have become a B I G deal in the make up industry. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like before we didn’t pay much attention to eyebrows but now BOOM! #eyebrowsonpoint #eyebrowgametoostrong #eyebrowgoals right? with that said, it’s super obvious this is a NEEDED brush. The purpose of the brush is to help you fill in your brows to make them appear more full and in perfect shape. The perfect brow brush will be angled and it will help you get that brow thin- tail end on point.
#3 Powder Brush. Well this one is also a basic need because some people prefer to apply powder foundation over liquid. With this brush you powder will go evenly on your and is usually big enough for it to do the perfect job quickly and give you that full coverage.
#4 Eye Blending Brush. for my eyeshadow lovers, you know how crucial it is to own one of these. To get that perfect eye shadow look it’s super important to blend your shadows. With this brush blending becomes way easier, and your eye lids will thank you later. I promise. The brush is kind of pointy but soft enough to get that perfect blending going
#5 Lip Brush. How many of you just throw on you lipstick as it is? I know I do, I am always in a hurry and just do it as it comes out, but HUGE mistake. This is part of the secret, using an actual lip brush will make your lips seem more defined and it will make your lips look like you part of the Kardashian family (jk maybe not that extreme)
But it will make your lips stand out more.
#6 Kabuki Brush. You know that little short and fat brush? well it has a name K A B U K I, and it does wonders. You can use this brush to apply lose powders, bronzer, highlights. With its wide and soft bristles your make up will look uh-maaaaizing.
#7Angled Eye Brush. This brush is angled for a reason, you can use it to apply your gel eyeliner, or even to use dark powder to make the effect of a perfectly defined eye look.
#8 Eye shadow Brush. This brush has soft bristles and it’s not completely squared or round, but in between to help you get that eye shadow application stay just in place.
#9 Angled Face Brush. A fluffy brush that will make it your life easier when applying definition to your face. Just sweep on some bronzer or highlighter along your cheek bones and voila.
#10 Concealer Brush. Whether you are a concealer fan or not, this brush is the way to go if you want your concealer to do its job. Some people will rather use their fingers, but you honestly don’t want your concealer to make your face look “cakeky” you want your concealer to stay in place and highlight under your eyes, nose etc. I mean there’s a concealer brush for a reason right?
#11 Smudge Brush. Want the perfect shadow on your lower lash line ? this brush will
do the trick and just smudge out eyeliner after. This rounded shaped brush is small and short, but most important dense. It can also help you score that perfect smokey eye for a night out, looking flawless.
#12 Brow Brush and Comb. Back to the brow game, people have said a HUGEEEEE part of getting those eyebrows on point is brushing and making all of that tiny hair stays in place. You can even use this brush to comb through your lashes, and get clumps of mascara out. Multipurpose brush, who doesn’t love that?
#13 Stippling Brush. This brushes is one of my favorites, it’s the perfect brush if you are a liquid foundation and concealer lover. Stippling brushes are key for those who have acne scars because with this brush you are not forcing the foundation into those scars, instead you brush over them leaving you smooth finish. This brush will help you dotting on your foundation and then blending it for more of a perfect look.
#14 The Blending Sponge. Even though this is technically not a brush but a sponge, mostly every girl own one of these. Go on YouTube watch any beauty video and they all use it. WHY? because it’s so amazing, a little damped blend your foundation and WOW! your makeup will look so much better, proven fact. You can also find some smaller blending sponges for concealers and color corrections.
Well there you have it,Complete Guide to Using Makeup Brushes , in a world full of brushes, pick the right ones. These are the basic brushes that you should have in your collection, but there are just so many it could get overwhelming. So many colors, designs, brands, right?
Some people will say high-end brushes are key, but in all honestly having a good brush will do the job if you know how to use it. You don’t need to pay $5o dollars for a brush that will do the same thing that a $9.99 brush will. I mean if you have the money go for it, but for us college students, moms etc, I know it can be rough.
Elf has a great collection of brushes that are pretty inexpensive and work wonders. Real Techniques Brushes, LOVE them too, they are super soft.
