I don’t know about you, but I am always a little picky when it comes to trying new foods. But this time I really wanted to try it. So I followed Pinterest direction and made myself an acai bowl, and I automatically fell in love. So, What is Acai Anyway?
Acai is a fruit that can be thought of as something like a mix of a grape and a blueberry. It’s found in slender palm trees around the Amazon River basin of South America. Some people describe the taste of Acai as a mix of wild berries and chocolate, what more do you want? yum.
Some uses of Acai other than food obviously, are natural food coloring, cosmetics, anti-aging skin creams, shampoos and conditioners, and food supplements.
Why is Acai so Healthy?
Our friends at GlobalHealingCenter.com say Acai berries are extremely high in anthocyanins, a form of plant antioxidant associated with the ability to lower cholesterol levels in the blood stream. They are also rich in plant sterols that provide cardio-protective benefits to our cells. It does this by preventing blood clots, improving overall blood circulation, and relaxing the blood vessels. But that’s not all, Acai helps digestion, promotes healthy skin, aids in weight loss, it’s an immune booster, it helps with anti-aging effects, better sex, and it helps you with your memory! whoa, not convinced yet?
Well, Acai bowl has become a thing on social media, with an effort to stay healthy and being always on the go. Millennials have opted for taking an Acai bowl as their breakfast, which I don’t blame them for. You can add so much to your bowl, customizing it and making it pretty. Because the more you add to it (banana, granola, strawberry, coconut, nuts etc) the prettier your Instagram picture will be and the more nutrients you will get.
